Savanna Samson to release Sogno Uno – a 91 points Parker rated wine

The lady shown here has an unusual pair of careers: porn star and winemaker. Savanna Samson, famous for her long career in the adult film industry, will be releasing a wine called Sogno Uno (Dream One) in February. We have seen this sort of stunt casting when it comes to celeb wines before but what is intriguing is that the wine has already been given 91 points by Robert Parker and will be available in restaurants in New York including the posh Restaurant Daniel. The new wine is a blend of 70% Cesanese, 20% Sangiovese and 10% Montepulciano and Samson did the tasting herself. The wine is expected to sell for $35-$40 and only 400 cases of the 2004 have been produced. There are plans to make a white Sogno Due (Dream Two) and a champagne in the future.
The release of the wine – at New York’s La Masseria restaurant – was initially due to coincide with the New Year but the launch has been put back due to problems with the label, which features an airbrushed picture of Samson posing in a see-through dress (similar to the image above).
The holdup is due to concern over whether or not she will be able to call the wine Vino de Tavola or simply Italian Red Wine as the grapes are sourced from different regions.
The actress, whose husband is a New York wine merchant, plans to make a white Sogno Due, or Dream Two, in the near future and is considering adding Champagne to the range.

Sogno Uno will be available soon at a pice of $38/bottle.

Sogno Uno sounds like a wine worth trying and more power to Ms. Samson for making a wine that is excellent from everything I have read.

Due ONLY to the rare nature of the grape, Cesanese found in Lazio, being the primary fruit used in the blend, I would enjoy tasting a few bottles over time to understand how it evolves. I am not one bit concerned nor attracted because a pornstar is on the label and supposedly initiated the blend. I think more respect should go to wine maker, Robert Cipresso rather than the starlet cum, pun intended, wine negociant. In this regard, allocations should go to those true wine lovers who see this as an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the world’s wine grapes and not just simply to ride the newest fad. From the posts read above, I assume that most of the folks don’t care to know the grapes, just that a pornstar, adult movie talent is featured on the label and that Sir R.M. Parker gave it 91 points. Hail to the glory and grandeur of Empire!

The enticing label on this new wine is a complete rip-off. It is an exact copy of a Vargas painting. The Vargas estate has been notified. It will be interesting to see what charges (if any) they bring against Ms. Samson.
That said, I must confess that I, too, am interested in tasting this wine.

I do enjoy my wine as it is an excellent intellectual pursuit. From what you wrote, I imagine your enjoyment of wine is directly related to your extremely low level of sarcasm. I said what I did to give some perspective to the issue. Were you offended, why not take the high road and argue from a stance of intelligence rather than your high school put down. You sir, must be a truly sad lad indeed. However, best to you and I do sincerely hope that you acquire at least one bottle of this wine. Mike, there is wine. but to be frank even we didnt get a hand on it. We are still waiting just as other retailers who have been promised cases of this wine are also waiting. As I said in post, we will surely mail you all one by one personally when we have the wine. I have the mail ready to mail everyone here, but we still dont have the wine in the store. I will surely mail you all when we have the wine in.
Would buy two cases when available. Most interested in this release, but would really wonder about the next issue from this winery until it proves itself as more than a flash in the pan.

just got back form a trip to LA and Vegas went to a very high end Wine store in vegas owner said it was a gimmick was never ment to be any good …. i told him i feel it’s funny that so many people want to try it he said that is why they do this because it creates a market … thought i would pass on the info .. i still would liek to get a bottle or more any ways

No its not a gimmick or anything which meant to create a market. We were expecting this wine anytime but there was no update from the distributer who is the only guy who has few bottles of it. I will be excited to tell you all about it if its in our store. Patience Please. There is nothing in my hands too if there is very little stock left. But will buzz you all for sure if its in.

I am beginning to doubt this store’s ability to procure any of this wine for potential customers. It is August now and still no update. If the distributor doesn’t have any, then at least be honest about it. Make’s me question this store’s credibility.

Ok i got a email from savanna and the phone number above is her dealer but they sold out in the first 2 hours i was told so they are out but the gal on the phone also said now there should be some on the market somewhere because it sold that fast it could take a huge hike in price …………..

i got 2 bottles from savanna she called me also wed morning she said they are real low and that the lable had to be redone because it was to razzcy she is sorry it took this lonog to get the wine out and there will be a white wine soon also she said …..

Why should I have to chase this wine around? This store made it sound like I could rely on them to get the wine and now they have let their customers down. I will never do business with them in the future!

Rebecca, there is nothing we can do if the dealer cannot deliver us in bulk. We cannot sell hald a dozen bottles to a thousand customers that are hanging in the mailing list which I have ready to send out whenever we have the stock in. I can tell everyone that, we are trying our best.
Been there and done that… Uno should have been a 93!!! Going after Due, put me on the list please for her 2nd time around. Great job SS!:d
